On average, it can take from 12 up to 48 hours, a number of factors influence the running time of a security test. As a result, estimating the duration of a test is difficult, but some of the most common factors that influence test duration are:
- Website size - Very large websites require more time to run tests because each set of attack vectors must be tested on each webpage.
- Large number of ports - The greater the number of ports running services exposed to the internet, the longer the test duration as a number of checks must be performed.
- Server response time - Thousands of HTTP requests may be sent to your web server during a security test. If the web server takes a long time to respond to these requests, the test duration will be lengthened.
